Ridiculous!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070508/ap_on_re_us/fresno_shooting

Absolutely ridiculous!!!

Grown men have NO place wasting their time and life by playing video games. I'm sorry.  As it says in my profile, video games and fantasy worlds are the biggest wastes of time and life ever.  I can't help but think that if these people were out helping starving dying people instead of playing video games, this whole thing might never have happened.  Taking another man's life, period, is obviously unacceptable, but for something so petit and ridiculous as a video game controller?!   Ummm.. hi Jesus, this is Will calling.  Not sure if you noticed the current state of affairs down here on the planet, but I was thinking maybe it'd be a good time for the rapture.  I don't know, just a thought.

I'm a Master!

Back up, Luca!! There's a NEW master's degree in town! haha.  I defended my thesis yesterday and it's great to have that over with!  This week's crazy with finals, so I just want to take one second to draw your attention to one new photo I've uploaded.  It's called 'regatta' and it's SICK!  It's a pic my buddy took at a recent regatta around the island of Grenada.  It's seriously like THE quintessential boat picture.  It looks more like something out of a scene in New England to me, but it's the Caribbean.  Home in a week!!

the tour resumes

A'ight friends,

The tour resumes again tomorrow with a quick flight over to Grenada for Operation: Defend My Thesis.  That's right - as of Friday I have a master's degree!  I'm pretty excited about that - mostly just about getting it DONE with!  Though, it has been an incredible experience - mostly just the opportunity it has afforded for the Will Brown World Tour to really even exist!   But not in Grenada for long!  Back to St. Vincent first thing Sat. morning (and I mean FIRST thing - 6am!).. .only to study ALL day sat and sun for a pharmacology final exam on Monday and then a pathophysiology final exam Thursday.  The only good news in all that is FRIDAY I GO HOME!! (Ok, technically I won't get "home" 'til Saturday, but once the trip starts - that's officially me at home.)

One Sentence

Having considered the evidence regarding helminth infections and their transmission route; the role of helminth infections in the cycle of entrapment and the potential reduction in poverty that could be achieved by reducing such infections; primary and secondary contamination routes and the barriers to those routes;  the inefficacy of secondary-barrier based control programs; seemingly imminent anthelmintic resistance; the inability of albendazole to prevent reinfection in areas where helminth infections are endemic; the newly elucidated data demonstrating the ability of sanitation to reduce rates of reinfection and thereby maintain a low prevalence of ascariasis over time; and the host of other important human pathogens that are transmitted through human excrement, I would call upon the world health leaders to establish an intervention strategy, with realizable goals, that would ultimately provide sanitation facilities to populations where helminth infections are endemic and are causing substantial morbidity.

My Gitt's Family

I just wanted to draw your attention quickly to a new photo I uploaded in a foto album entitled "my Gitt's family".  It's a pic we took in my apartment here in St. Vincent.  I had a dinner party for the people that run the mom&pop supermarket up at the corner of our street. It's called "Gitt's market" (And yes, I made the only thing I know how to make which is cranbery chicken.  But, it's so good!  I don't want to hear any grief from any of you!  Luca, let's get a shout out for Cranberry chicken!  Yeah Mary and Julie!!!)  The people in my Gitt's family are the most incredible people in St. Vincent.  They've been such a huge blessing to me this semester.  The woman in the pink shirt is "mama".  Her name is Shirley, but Fox (my roommate) and I met her when we went into the supermarket for the first time and we found out that it was her store, so we have affectionately referred to her as "Mama Gitt" ever since.  She hates the name, 'cause she said it makes her sound old.  But, I think she actually really likes it.  Little did we know how much of a huge help she would be to us all semester in all different types of situations that came up; in issues ranging from not having martini glasses to issues of personal safety and national security.  Other people in the picture include mama's daughter, mama's boyfriend, the store security guard, the cashier, and the cashier's boyfriend.

It was precious because they couldn't come to dinner, of course, until after the supermarket closed, 'cause they were all working.  So, they closed the market and locked up and then walked right down the road together to come down to dinner @ 8:30pm. I watched them all walk down the road together and it was kind of surreal.  It was such an absolute HONOR to be able to have them for dinner.  They're amazing people!  I just couldn't help but think, "This is my real life.  I can't believe I GET to have this as my real life."  I think that a lot during my world travels & all the incredible experiences I've already have.  So it was a great night and I just wanted you all to see the pic 'cause they're the sweetest people ever.

TWO WEEKS 'TIL I'M HOME!!!
